Here are Elaine’s responses to the questions we put to her:

1. What three words would you use to describe your role?

Busy, Varied, Fun

2. What do you like most about your job?

Being office based I don’t see customers face to face very often, but I love chatting to them on the phone and helping them with their requirements. Being a smaller team means I am involved in many aspects of a customers order and I enjoy that as being a wee bit of a control freak, I like seeing things through from start to finish. Every day is varied, with no idea of what I’m going to be asked to source which does make it very interesting!

3. What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

My daughter – she is 17 and I am so proud of the caring, funny, beautiful young lady she has become and looking forward to seeing what her future holds for her!

4. If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Out with work I am involved with Tropic Skincare and Susi Ma the founder is truly inspirational. Her story is a real rags to riches and she has such a positive influence not only in the beauty world but further afield. She really is a force for good. Every time I hear her speak it really motivates me to be a better person and to work hard at what you believe in and want to achieve.

5. If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

Life, Antics & Laughter with Lainey

I was extremely lucky growing up and went on some great family holidays making amazing memories. Although with this brought many an adventure as my dad was a bit of a character and we always seemed to be almost missing boats or flights due to one last drink, or piece of cheese or stuck in sand storms or me catching measles in Morocco and much more so there are lots of stories to tell. I’ve said to my mum many times to write a book about it but it may be left to me to do!!

6. What’s a trip that changed you, and why?

On holiday in Thailand I stayed in a floating hotel on the River Kwai. It was an amazing experience with no internet just back to nature with total peace and quiet. We were taken on a wooden raft up the river and given life jackets and jumped in and floated down the river back to the hotel. Although I wouldn’t say it changed me as such but for that moment there it really made me stop and think about life and what was important.

7. What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

Always be yourself, you are good enough!  – which my mum said to me at quite a young age!

8. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

That I looked like Jet from Gladiators (very much back in the 90’s in my 20s)

9. What’s one song or artist that you’re embarrassed to admit you like?

Oh there’s so many as my music taste is quite mixed – Neil Diamond, Bros, A-Ha and anything dance from the 90s although I reckon it’s all back on trend these days!

10. If you could only have three apps on your smartphone, which would you pick?

Whatsapp, Facebook, Banking App
